Hi there! Welcome! My name is Mila, originally from Bulgaria, I am a former mathlete who naturally turned artist. I know, right? Believe it or not, the skills I learned from math and science have shaped my design process tremendously.
How I started
While working in advertising I felt the need to take a break from the screen and use my hands to make stuff instead. In 2015, I picked up a brush pen and instantly fell in love with calligraphy and lettering. Since then, I have worked with commercial and personal clients to make beautiful lettering for events, branding, signage, posters, and promotional materials. Most recently I lettered 2000 cards for a celebrity dinner event!
Other things
Beyond the “9 to whenever”, I teach the world about the meaning of strange Bulgarian proverbs (actual project coming soon), inversely enjoying learning American idioms like ‘the cats pajamas’, and hoarding pens for my hand lettering. Apart from the daily hustle, I hope to inspire and empower fellow young designers as a co-founder at Ladies, Wine & Design, Brooklyn and the content curator at Nashville Design Week.
I have a slight obsession over details and organizing things, perhaps something I inherited from my math days. One time I was awarded "the most organized art director" at work :)
